Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning union or yoke. The physical benefits of Yoga such as improved strength and flexibility may be what initially draws us, but as we continue to practice we often notice more subtle changes in our minds and emotions and perhaps a deeper sense of joy.
Hatha yoga, then, means union of sun and moon and the practice helps to harmonize and integrate these two polar energies within ourselves to create physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance.
